Our History
Dianne Hon and Corry Matthews co-founded Fit & Healthy Schools as a tool to combat the growing childhood obesity epidemic. In 2006, Fit & Healthy Schools launched a pilot program with the Prince William County Public School system in Northern Virginia. Today, Fit & Healthy Schools continues to broaden their reach and help more and more schools, “one youth and a time”.
In 2011, Stacia D. Kelly, PhD, stepped into the Executive Director role and has since moved F&HS into the area of providing education and outreach programs to our local school system in the from of fitness, nutritional education and awareness as well as anti-bullying and kindness programs. In 2012 our goal is to bring our Respect program into the schools and education parents, teachers and students on giving respect in all aspects of their lives.
